Ireland is ready to welcome us back, but there are some requirements

We are so excited to know that Ireland is welcoming back international travelers effective July 19. Here is what you need to know before you go.

Passenger Locator Form

Customers with a valid proof of vaccination do not require travel-related testing or quarantine when travelling to Ireland*. Everyone needs to provide a COVID-19 Passenger Locator Form online, which should be completed at least 48 hours prior to arrival into the Ireland. Learn more and complete the form here.

Proof of Vaccination or Negative PCR Test

Anyone travelling without a valid proof of vaccination will need to show evidence of a negative PCR test to travel and will need to self-quarantine on arrival for 5 days subject to a receiving a negative PCR test result on day 5, which will be facilitated by the Irish health service. Learn more.

Returning to the USA

The CDC requires all travelers flying to or transiting through the U.S. from international destinations, including U.S. citizens, to provide proof of either a negative COVID-19 test within the last three days or documentation of recovery from COVID-19. You must be prepared to show this documentation to the airline before you board your flight

The COVID-19 test must:

  • Be a viral test (NAAT or antigen) with a “negative” or “COVID-19 not detected” result (test results marked “invalid” will not be accepted)

  • Be taken no more than three days before departure from the first embarkation point

  • Show written proof of the traveler’s negative test result and include the traveler’s name and other identifying details matching those on the traveler’s passport or other valid form of identification Learn more.

How can I get tested in Ireland?

First of all your Airline may offer self test options for travellers who have flights originating and returning to the US. Check with your airline for your options. Be sure to follow the CDC Guidelines regarding the type of test you need . Here are a couple of links for US based airline Self Test offers. American Airlines Self Test - United Airlines Self Test. You must purchase these tests here in the US before you begin your travel and be prepared to administer the test 3 days prior to your return.

Testing is also available at the Dublin Airport - Learn More and at other locations in Ireland. Here is a list of Testing sites

Confirm the requirements for travel with your airline.

As with all travel, different airlines have different requirements regarding masks, testing, proof of vaccine, etc. You may need to upload your proof of vaccination before you travel. So check the requirements and assemble the necessary documentation before you travel. Create a timeline for yourself - to upload necessary documents, to complete the passenger locator form and to schedule your test for your return to the US.
