DART around Dublin

DART - Dublin Area Rapid Transit is a terrific way to conduct your own sightseeing tours around Dublin. Forget those pricey tours - for the price of a train ticket you can see some beautiful spots.

Killiney Bay

First you will be treated to spectacular views of Killiney Bay from the train, and just a few hundred meter walk from the station and you are on the beach. Bring a picnic and simply enjoy views of Dalkey Island and Bray Head, practice your rock skipping skills on the calm water, or take a walk along the shore. You might even spot a dolphin or two. There is a small coffee shop attached to the station, but no other amenities close to the beach. For those who want a hike and even more spectacular sights - visit Killiney Hill.

Malahide Castle is one of the oldest castles in Ireland. You can walk to the castle from the Dart Station. Enjoy a tour of the castle , the lawn gardens and of the secret garden. You can also shop for souvenirs and local crafts at the shop onsite. There is an eatery - so have lunch and make a day of it. Watch out for Puck the resident ghost!

So many walks and so much to see. When you arrive in Howth you can choose from some of the beautiful coastal walks where you will be treated to views of Dublin Bay, Lambay Island and Ireland's Eye and the contrasting beauty of the inland meadows and wildflowers. Not interested in taking a hike? Take a walk on the pier, or catch a boat (15 mins) to Irelands Eye and explore. Make time to stop in the village for a pint or eats at one of the many pubs and restaurants. We love Beshoffs for Fish and Chips.
